African Greys

African Grey Training

African Greys are a wonderful breed of bird that have amazing abilities to learn how to talk, as well as actually understand what they are saying!

Yes, It's true.  African Greys can be taught to answer questions, like what color is that toy car? Or tell the shape of 3 different blocks, whether it be a triangle, cube or whatever.

But just because an African Grey is an amazing talker, doesn't mean you should go right out and get one at your local pet store.  First let me give you some facts about this fascinating bird...

African Grey Fact #3

Due to the fact that the African Grey is so intelligent, it is extremely easy to trick train!  Trick training can be a fun way to provide your Grey with the daily interaction that it needs and the mental stimulation to keep him from getting bored.

If you are seriously considering the purchase of an African Grey, then let me make a couple recommendations for you...

You need to make sure that you have will be willing to take the time to give your African Grey the attention he deserves; and it doesn't have to be much!  All I'm talking about is 20 minutes a day, of one on one time.

This could be taking a 5-10 minute shower with you in the morning as you get ready to head to the office, relaxing with you for 30 minutes when you come home from work to watch TV, or 2 separate 5 minute training sessions to give a little extra mental stimulation.

As long as you stick to this type of a routine, your parrot will not become a bother to you, sucking you dry of all your free time, and instead you'll find yourself looking forward to the time you get to spend with your feathered friend.

And that's what we all want!  A well behaved African Grey Parrot, who we can't wait to spend some time with.
